Let’s just get right down to it. I am big and bald in no particular order, hence the “Big Daddy” name! With that said and out of the way, I have been in radio for most of my life. I started at 13 working out of this little station in Fitchburg MA that had a distinctive 1940’s feel (and smell) to it, then spent my summer after getting out of High School interning at small station at Hampton Beach chasing down women (unsuccessfully) on the beach to go on the radio. I then decided 2 weeks before school started up that I was going to College to “fine tune my skill” of talking and pressing play on a CD player. 2 years later, I had the degree in hand and a job at a Boston station! I stayed there for about 10 years working on the Morning Show before one day this nice little lady from HR walked down the hall during the show and informed me that it was budget cut day and therefore, my last day. Turns out it was her last day as well and she is now working somewhere else making people her horrible baked goods and spreading her friendly cheer I am sure!
Anyway…I used my time off to get my Real Estate license, thinking I could make some money and work normal hours for once. That worked out well as the market then proceeded to crash. It was almost like that nice lady I spoke of above decided to transition into Real Estate and ruin that for me as well. Now I have this neat license that has the value of a #2 pencil.
So I decided I wanted back into the only job I loved and found myself here at 93-7 Mike-FM! The odd thing is that they don’t have any DJ’s here, so I am still wondering what it is that I am supposed to be doing! I spend my day annoying others in the office with my silly pranks, singing to myself all of the cool songs we play, eating lunch with my new friends, socializing with the cooks in our cafe and now, writing blogs about the trials and tribulations of the things I think about daily. Essentially, I am just writing this blog so we can BOTH waste time at work more efficiently! I hope the big bosses do not read this and figure out I am really not needed here! Let’s just keep that our little secret, ok? Thanks!
Oh yeah, and I also will get to interview the celebrities when they come in! I hunt them down even when they are in our building and get a picture with them for my stalker album! I love funny movies and hanging out all over New England, especially where there is a Popeye’s Fried Chicken (which currently limits me to the one by Fenway Park, Brockton, Providence & The Maine Turnpike) or a KFC. There is nothing that makes me more happy than Chicken! You can also often find me smoozing my way into events that I do not belong at, as well as being in places that most people would never go to. I have some odd friends, but hey, they just make me look normal.
Other than that, I just like to have fun and laugh and (don’t ever forget this part), eat chicken…that is very important). That’s about it….ask if you want to know more. If anything, sending me email’s will give the impression that I am feverishly working on some big project and I cannot be bothered! I’m sure I will share more as time goes by, especially about my fun little adventures, but I need to try and get some work done and can’t stay on this blog all day! After all, I do have to…well….ummmm…..well….I gotta go!
